Jet's Story

• Pre-Beacon

  Before entering Beacon Academy, Jet was born in the Kingdom of Vacuo. When born, she was subjected to extreme amounts of prejudice as she was raised around a settlement of faunus. The faunus were extremely anti-human, leading Jet to be pushed around and even attacked on several occasions during her childhood. Her parents were also rough and strict, leaving Jet to often leave the house and live on her own in the woods for days at a time. In doing so, she taught herself means of survival, fighting, and also how the world looked.
  
  Although she was taunted, harmed, and hated by the local faunus, she didn't develop any hatred of the faunus herself. She discovered that humans hated them as much as they hated her, if not worse. She knew that it wasn't their fault they were getting pushed around and were simply pushing back. Surprisingly, she developed empathy rather than hatred.
  
  On one of her ventures away from home, Jet ended up staying away for nearly a month before returning, something that wasn't unheard of from her, but wasn't exactly the norm with her activities. However, on the return home, she noticed something that filled the sky.
  
  Fire.
  
  Jet had found her home ablaze and, subsequently, her parents deceased. She knew not who set it, but didn't put the blame on the faunus who hated her so. She instead turned to other possibilities, refusing to see the answer just in front of her. She left Vacuo not long after and found her way to Vale. Not long after entering, she was contacted by Headmaster Ozpin of Beacon Academy and was given a spot. Seeing the academy as a way to learn and grow and possibly get away from her past, she accepted without hesitation.
